What is CERT?

CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team and it is an initiative of Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV).Community First Responders perform an extraordinary job by providing basic emergengy pre hospital care where they are located in ruraul or remote communites before an ambulance arrives. The Meredith Cert team covers the communities of Mt Doran, Morrisons, Durdidwarrah, Steiglitz, She Oaks, Maude, Lethbridge, Shelford, Bamganie, Mount Mercer, Elanie, & Meredith.

Our role in the community:

As Community First Responders (CFR's) our role is to provide our local region with access to advanced first aid. We operate 24/7, every single day of the year. By dialing 000 and requesting an ambulance, the CERT team is dispatched at the same time as the ambulance.

CERT will not transport patients, but provides 'first responder' first aid and comfort to the sick and injured until an ambulance arrives.

Who are the CERT members?

We are your friends, your family and / or your neighbours. If you live in the Meredith & District area, chances are someone nearby is a CERT team member. Currently there are 10 volunteer members trained to provide basic life support / advanced first aid until ambulance paramedics arrive at emergencies.
